Hi lovely people!!
My summer destination is one of the most beautiful places in mainland Greece (all year round). It used to be the first capital of Greece after Independence and has three fortresses: Palamidi, Akronafplia and Bourtzi.
What’s so cool about Nafplio?
It is nothing like a standard tourist resort. It is sophisticated and full of mystery. It is surrounded by Venetian buildings and little, cute streets full of artisan goods. The light, color and smell of fresh air is majestic. While having a drink at the numerous cafes, the view across the Argolic gulf, looking out to Bourtzi castle, can keep you hypnotized for hours.
When is the best time to visit Nafplio?
Anytime…yes, any time is a good time to visit and you won’t regret it. It combines lots of sightseeing, shopping and yummy food. It usually gets busier during the weekends, because it is only a short distance from Athens (about 1h and 30min). During the summer, there are numerous sandy beaches found close by and during the sunny winter days you can enjoy walking and sightseeing. If you are brave and fit enough then you can go up the 999 steps (yeah…that’s right) to the Palamidi Fortress!! It is ideal for family day trips but also for romantic weekends for couples. I have personally visited Nafplio many times and will continue to do so, because I love its character and majestic views.

Tolo, Peloponnese, Greece
A great place to swim is the small picturesque village of Tolo. The Tolo sandy beach stretches for about one kilometer and it’s ideal for small children as the water is shallow. The village has many hotels and rooms to let and is about 10-15 minutes from Nafplio!
So, if you ever visit Greece it is worth visiting Nafplio and the villages around it! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful pictures!
